Reactive Dog Class

Reactive is a term coined by dog trainers and pet parents who own dogs that overreact to certain stimuli. It might be the sight of other dogs, people, kids, loud noises and chaos. The dog’s reaction to these stimuli is usually a bark and lunge type of behavior. Reactivity can be incredibly difficult to manage and can be scary for both the person or dog being barked at and the person holding the leash. Reactivity may be part of the dogs genetic make up or developed from life experiences. Most reactivity is based from a fear response to a stimulus, but can also be caused by frustration and over-excitement.

The Reactive Dog Class is for dogs and their owners who are experiencing reactivity on their daily walks. The class is designed using the most up-to-date science based protocols and procedures for dealing with reactive dogs, and limits the number of dogs to 4. With two trainers in the class, each students gets individualize attention to work with their dog in the space. We do not use any type of fear or punishment to achieve results and each dog is allowed to work at their own pace. The first week is a mandatory 90 minute, no-dog orientation, and the course requires daily homework to achieve maximum results. This is class is not for aggressive dogs. All those looking to register will have to fill out a prerequisite form to see if you and your dog qualify.

Cost: $250
